The Isle of Wight Gin Festival have announced the dates for this year’s event.


Helen and the team of organisers say they’re delighted to announce that the event -which is now in its fifth year – will take place between the 2nd and 3rd October. 15 hand picked gins will be exhibited over the course of the weekend at the Quay Arts Centre.

“We are now taking bookings with no deposit so as to be as flexible as possible, and we have taken the decision to keep most of our COVID19 prevention measures in place for the rest of this season. Should you have COVID19 symptoms during your stay please call 01983 400 002 immediately and staff will assist you. Breakfast is by prior appointment only, you will be offered a sitting on check in. No housekeeping is offered during these restrictions, a "cleaning pack is provided.” and has been well received by guests so we will continue to provide our services' at these levels.


Sandown Beach has been awarded a prestigious Blue Flag for the first time in years – and is the only Isle of Wight beach to be awarded such honour in 2021.

Environmental charity Keep Britain Tidy has  announced the winners of the Blue Flag and Seaside Awards, with Sandown being 1 of just 76 beaches across the UK to be recognised with a Blue Flag.

The Isle of Wight has been named in a poll of the top UK destinations by a global travel firm, and is the only Island to feature.

Big 7 Travel compiled the list following a poll of their readers’ favourite UK staycation destinations who are looking forward to travelling when it is safe to do so.

The Isle of Wight was placed at number six in the countdown, making it the only Island in the top ten and seeing off competition from popular locations such as Bath, Manchester and the Norfolk Broads.

British Air Racing Championship

The British air racing championships" took place, despite the weather conditions,  on Saturday 24th July at Sandown Airport with the race for the Schneider trophy.
